Bloody Feminists

I am having a tremendously bad day. A friend has betrayed my confidence and told her friend what I do. I kind of know this woman, we've met on a few occasions. The problem is, she is an extreme femisinst and has a severe problem with what I do. She is convinced that anyone working in the escort industry must've been forced into it or has been brainwashed - she can't get it into her head that it's a personal choice, and I feel that I should be able to earn money however I please. That's my right.

I was really looking forward to going to a fashion show later, but my company will be the Judas friend, the feminist and her feminist friend. Oh joy. I shouldn't have to explain my personal decisions to anyone, especially when their only insight into the industry is some television documentary about trafficking. It's not all like that.

On top of that, barman text me to say he's possible relocating to Bournemouth. Pants.

Cyprus, anyone?

  2. Feminists like that are just silly. I'm a feminist and whilst I may not agree with the industry as a WHOLE I still understand a woman's right to choose! Isn't that what equality is all about - choosing the lives we lead?

I'd ignore her and her silly close-minded ways. I'd never try and enforce my opinions on anybody - I read yours and other sex workers blogs so that I can understand why women are choosing this lifestyle! :)

  3. I think your blog is excellent! Take no notice of the feminist, I know easier said than done I suppose, but isn't feminism supposed to be all about the empowerment of women?(excuse my spelling I amy be a small bit inebriated! :))You're making all your own decisions and for all your own reasons, couldn't that technically then be classed as a form of feminism?
Unfortunatly there is an awful lot of extreme feminists out there who don't agree, and I say more fool them, they miss out on an awful lot of fun as far as I'm concerned!
Keep up the writing! And do whatever in hell makes you happy! :)

  4. That really sucks. I can understand people not agreeing with choices (I can only imagine how many don't agree with mine,) but to blab to friends is inexcusable.

Plus, I don't think the feminist argument that you're being exploited is a good one. This is clearly your choice. So if anything, it's men's needs and weaknesses that are being exploited, not yours. And I don't see us complaining! ;-)

  5. Thanks guys, I'm glad you can see my point of view! She wasn't too confrontational face to face, I think she's all talk. She's entitled to her opinion, but she'd better not force it on me! x
